Day 6: Mon 10 Nov - Mumbai to Kolad

Fine & Sunny 24 to 30deg C
Ride: 96km

Mumbai to Kolad. A gem of a first-day ride starts with an early morning cruise south across the Arabian Sea to Mandawa, where we begin our ride on idyllic backroads to our riverside retreat near Kolad, situated on the banks of the Kundalika River. Distance: 76km | Ride Time: 5 hours | Overnight: Kolad

I was up at 0415h in order to fit in my exercises, packing and be downstairs at 0530h ready to ride away. We got going a little late and rode to the ferry terminal in light traffic. The terminal is near the Gateway of India which was only about 15 minutes from the hotel. After loading ourselves and the bikes on the ferry it pushed off and cruised for 2 hours to Mandawa after crossing the Arabian Sea.  There we mounted our trusty stead’s and cycled a few hundred metres to our breakfast venue.  From there it was an interesting ride on backroads. Lunch was at a little bar/restaurant about 20km from our o/n stop. The lassi I had was the best I’ve ever tasted. The first-day’s ride was finished off by riding to our riverside retreat near Kolad, situated on the banks of the Kundalika River.

Dinner was taken at the resort as there’s nothing else anywhere near this place. The flavours in the meal tonight were outstanding, loved every bite.
