There
was no sign of anyone when I went for my walk at 0540h this morning. Tea and
coffee were presented in the foyer about 0800h, which was most welcome. Breakfast
took some time to come but it was worth waiting for. Cut up fresh fruit,
fantastic hot porridge, omelette, toast & jam and more tea. The fact that I
didn’t have any dinner last night made me enjoy it all even more.
After
all that I certainly needed a walk, so Bob and I went exploring. Mike said we
could grab our bikes if we wanted but we didn’t know where we were going to end
up or even where we were headed so we just walked. Ended up in the “tunnel”,
which is the name given to the row of shops, effectively a closed in section of
the esplanade about 1km long. Although very interesting there was nothing that
I couldn’t live without. We continued to the beach and then up the local
lookout point that gives a good view down the beach. By this time, it was
starting to get very hot, and we had had enough of being tourists, so we
returned to the hotel for a break.
The
worms started biting about 1300h, so Bob and I headed for lunch. Not long after
we got seated Baz and Simon joined us, and a little later Ken walked in. Bob
and I had the seafood noodles and a lassi, which was all delicious. It worked
out at about $10 each. Back to the room for some more of that rest day before
we headed out again for a game of beach cricket. After which I was well and
truly ready for a shower and some sleep.
